Hand printed fabrics
My fabric printing company was established in 2007. Every piece of fabric was designed and printed by hand from my studio at Yorkshire Artspace in Sheffield, England.
Sarah Waterhouse had a strong environmental and ethical policy which was at the core of the business since it began in 2007. Every element of production aimed to reduce our impact on the planet. I used only high quality materials to create a product that was made to last.
- I always chose to print only on environmentally friendly fabrics such as hemp and organic cotton.
- The inks I used were certified organic by the Soil Association.
- The coloured base cloths were dyed using low impact, formaldehyde-free and azo-free dyes
- The British woven base cloth fabric was woven to our specification by a mill in nearby Lancashire. The fabric was then finished locally to avoid unnecessary transportation.
- Our suppliers for all other materials and services were sourced as close to Sheffield as possible with many of them within Yorkshire and Derbyshire.
In May 2023 I left Yorkshire Space and so sadly am no longer be printing any fabric by the metre.
